Joseph Bond, Sr. was born and raised in Brownsville, Tennessee. He was what you call a granddaddy’s boy. He was mostly raised by his grandparents, Johnny Venus and Fannie Mae Bond. His love for food and people is a generational journey of love.
Joseph grew up as a little boy working alongside his grandfather, who owned and operated the community grocery store, Bond’s Grocery Store. Joseph (Joe) learned from his grandfather, affectionately known as ‘papa,’ how to appreciate the “art” of good southern cooking.
Joe’s creativity for making tasty sauces and batter for the best fish and Bar-b-que is not by accident. When you taste Joe’s batter (on seafood) and sauce (on meats) you will understand his slogan, “You won’t rest until you’ve tried the best.”
